Because of his purity of soul and intense love for God, at one point, Saint Francis of Assisi was blessed by an angel who appeared beside him holding a violin and a bow.
The angel then told St. Francis that he would sing for him just as angels sing before God’s Throne of pure light.
Then the angel passed the bow over a string of the violin, thus generating only one sound, of extraordinary purity and complexity.
This unique sound, however, was so soft and overwhelming that it filled his whole soul with joy.
St. Francis later related that if that sublime harmony had been even more intense, he would have died right then of so much harmony and happiness.
