A shoemaker came to Master and said:
– Tell me what I can do about my morning prayer?
My clients are poor people and only have one pair of shoes. I bring my shoes late in the evening and I have to work all night to fix them, so that the next morning I can return them.
– What have you done so far? Master asked.
There are days when I pray very quickly and then rush back to my work, but I feel like a sinner.
Other times, I give up prayer, but even then I feel like a sinner.
Whenever I lift my hammer and hammer nails into my shoe, I hear my heart sigh: ” How unhappy I am that I can’t do my morning prayer…
