First-rate medicine in antiquity, clay today becomes a medicine of the future.
We have had clay in our concerns since 1994
noting some exceptional properties. Over time, the discovery or rediscovery of the beneficial action of clay continued, being now in possession of a rich package of references .
There are more exalted voices proposing it as a miraculous treatment in any problem of the human body
Yes, there are numerous applications where clay proves to be truly miraculous. There are also situations in which it only has a helping (but valuable) role. It is not the case to ask in all situations to work miracles. However, countless times its effects are undeniable and we can see in it a relief in solving many problems of our body.
A number of books and publications have promoted the beneficial applications of clay
Certain medical offices routinely prescribe clay in the treatment of patients and achieve remarkable results. However, a whole series of authors and testimonies attest to the achievement of special results with a variety of clays, which nevertheless met the conditions to be used in therapies.
It is very important to carry out the clay treatment for a long enough duration of time
according to the indications and not as we sometimes tend to give up the treatment as ineffective after one, two or three uses.
Let’s not forget that antibiotics or treatments with hydrocortisone and others of this kind are sometimes taken for weeks in a row and every time it seems natural to us to do so. It always seems normal to us in these cases to “benefit” from many side effects. They make therapy with certain drugs and cytostatics resemble a contest like “What happens first – does the person die from side effects or does the condition disappear?”.
It iscommon sense to discuss or appreciate the effects of clay therapy after we have used it and observed the effects
And not infrequently the effects are quick and very strong. It’s true that sometimes, naturally, it takes time for therapy, but it’s worth it (especially since, practically, there are no unwanted side effects ).
This synthesis aims to present a small guide on the use of clay in solving people’s problems, which we advise you to always follow carefully and with common sense.
It can be completed at any time by you, because the list of applications of clay in therapeutics and body care always remains open. In case of unpleasant manifestations (which happens quite rarely) the doctor’s advice is essential. In fact, in most serious cases, clay therapy cannot replace a competent medical consultation, because we must at least know what exactly we are suffering from.
The properties of clay (more important) are
- Disinfectant
- Antiseptic
- Bactericidal
- Regenerator
- remineralizing,
- balancing
- vitalizing, toning
- Cicatrizant
- antitoxic
- Absorbent
- Degreaser
- bleach.
Clay is antiseptic
and, like all other natural antiseptics (aromatic essences, especially), it does not have the drawbacks of certain common chemical antiseptics. The latter kill microbes but also damage the cells that make up our tissues.
Alexis Carell often spoke of the “intelligence of nature”. Clay is certainly endowed with it. Dwould this intelligence, as he wrote, is still inexplicable with the help of our current knowledge.
The bactericidal properties of clay are usefully used in many infectious conditions:
enteritis, colitis, colibacillosis, lung or parasitic diseases (intestinal parasitosis).
A PURULENT LAG TREATED WITH ARGIL SHALL BE SELLING WITH A RAPIDITY WHICH DOES NOT BE
The pus is eliminated and the tissues are restored.
The analysis carried out in 1928 by Professor Labourde, from the Faculty of Pharmacy in Strasbourg , made it possible to find that the curative clay is sterile, that is, free of microbial germs.
Clay is a remarkable absorbent
5 g is enough to discolour 10 cc of a 0.1% methylene blue solution. It absorbs bad odors (easy disinfection of toilets and night pots). Its absorbent power explains its property of eliminating the unpleasant odor of some medicinal oils and certain fats that want to compete with butter. It is used in some applications, even military, for devices for rapid purification of water collected from almost unsanitary sources.
Clay has degreasing and discoloring properties
The Romans put the laundry in the clay water. In industry it is used for bleaching mineral or vegetable oils.
Composition:
The composition of clays is quite varied. As an example, when analyzing a type of clay we can obtain: silicon 49.1%, alumina 14.61%, iron oxides 5.65%, CaCo3 4.44%, magnesium 4.24%, alkaline oxides 3.08%, titanium anhydride 0.74%, moisture 7.4%, fire loss 10.85%.
Treatment with clay in the case of known conditions:
- acne, facial rashes, wrinkles, couperose – clay mask; in the morning, clay orally (by mouth);
- gingivitis, stomatitis, alveolar pyorrhea – it is recommended to suck small pieces of clay.
- swellings, purulent wounds, gangrenous wounds, necrosis, ulcers, varicose ulcers, abscesses, boils, contusions – thick poultices, which are maintained for 1-2 hours; alternatively, applications of crushed cabbage leaves will be made for closed ailments – 4-6 poultices daily; for open infected wounds – wet dressing with plantain decoction – at night (40 g leaves per liter of water boiled until the water decreases by half);
- diarrhea, enteritis, colitis, rectocolitis, dysentery – oral clay (by mouth); poultices on the abdomen – 2 hours – as often as possible; applications of clay paste in the rectum (keep for 8-12 hours) or enemas with clay milk;
- constipation – the same as with diarrhea(!) but be careful: if there is no rapid improvement in constipation, stop the treatment;
- gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis , aerophagia – oral clay;
- kidney diseases – nephritis, nephritic colic, renal lithiasis, albuminuria – clay orally (by mouth); daily 1 or 2 clay poultices, cold, left for 2-3 hours and, alternatively, applications of crushed cabbage leaves, in the same way of administration;
- prostate diseases – abscess, adenoma, inflammation – in the anal-perineal area – clay poultices, cold, 1-2 per day, 1-2 hours; applications of lukewarm clay paste in the rectum- 10-20 ml, in the evening and kept until morning; alternatively, applications of crushed cabbage leaves or poultices of chopped cabbage leaves- a couple of hours and even from evening to morning;
- hemorrhoids – clay poultices, cold, small left for one or two hours in the anal region; alternatively cabbage leaf applications; medical consultation;
- couperoses, vaginitis, colpitis, rectitis, intestinal parasitosis – vaginal washes and enemas, in doses of 3-4 tablespoons per liter of water, at body temperature; local applications of clay paste, for 12-24 hours in vaginitis, colpitis, and rectitis;
- demineralization, anemia, lymphatism, devitalization, premature aging, general fatigue, asthenia – oral clay;
- rheumatism, gout – poultices with clay, daily, cold or lukewarm in acute crises or hot in chronic diseases;
- balancing the activity of the endocrine glands – clay orally.
How clay is used
Once started, a clay cure should not be interrupted – except in exceptional cases. It triggers a set of successive processes – drainage, revitalization – and stopping them could be harmful. At first, as in many other active cures, an apparent worsening of the condition may be observed (enlargement of the atone wound, an ulcer, temporary recrudescence of rheumatic pain). If it is more difficult to bear, reduce the dose for a while, after which gradually return to the original way.
Internal:
Clay to be used for internal use must be a clay as clean, greasy, finely sifted, without sand, unboiled and not mixed with other medicinal products. There are green, white, yellow or red clays. A few tests will allow us to determine, on a case-by-case basis, the more active variety. In principle, clay from the region or at least the country in which we live is advisable.
It has been observed that results can be obtained with a wide variety of clays (but which meet the listed conditions). Many of the therapeutic properties are not particularly dependent on a particular type . However, it has been observed that there are more valuable varieties, usually with a more complex chemical composition than others. Some of the colored clays are richer in components. We can thus meet types that turn out to have more special properties than usual.
Clay, especially if wet, ionically interacts with metal objects and vessels
It also absorbs substances or odors from plastic containers or even other containers. That is why it is better to avoid contact with metal objects and keep it in inert containers, made of ceramic or glass. This does not mean that a clay that has been processed with metal tools or that has been stored in a plastic container, for example, would no longer have beneficial properties. However, these could be, on a case-by-case basis, more or less mitigated.
It is more important to use the clay that is accessible to us, than not to do any kind of therapeutic procedure with this simple but valuable substance, waiting for a clay specialty that is harder to find.
The usual dose is
from one teaspoon to a glass filled 3/4 with water (1/2 teaspoon for children under 12 years old). It is good to start by drinking only clay water for 4-5 days. For certain conditions: dysentery, gastrointestinal disorders, anemia, tuberculosis, we can, on the contrary, take two or three teaspoons a day.
For the internal cure, “clay water” is first used
obtained by mixing clay with water (if possible spring water) which is prepared in the evening. The next day drink, on an empty stomach, only clear water. Repeat for 8 days. This purifies the blood and prepares the body to receive in a second stage (after 8 days of rest). This stage is especially necessary for beginners who have reservations about the use of clay. It could be eliminated and could proceed directly to the second stage: ” clay milk”.
Preparation should be done on the eve:
Put a teaspoon of clay in a glass 3/4 full of water, leave it overnight. The next morning we sip, after stirring well in the glass. We can also take our clay at bed or even half an hour before one of the main meals.
For children who cannot swallow the clay solution, we will prepare small clay balls with aromatic water (water in which pine, eucalyptus, thyme, mint buds have been macerated). They will suck these meatballs and get the same benefits.
It is recommended to suck small pieces of clay in case of gingivitis, stomatitis, alveolar pyrea, angina, throats.
The first cure of clay is recommended to last three weeks. Then it will resume ten days a month or one week out of two.
If a consecutive constipation occurs, we must reduce the dose of clay, increasing the amount of water and ingesting the ration in two or three portions during the day (half an hour before meals). In case of persistence of constipation, we must interrupt the ingestion of clay for 10-15 days.
The clay cure is incompatible with a diet rich in fats; It is indicated to drink, clean water or natural juices in sufficient quantities.
Contraindications :
chronicconstipation, tendencies of intestinal occlusions and hernia and in cases of hypertension it should be used with caution.
External:
Preparation of clay paste is very simple:
We put the clay in a glass, wooden, tile, porcelain container (never in a metal pot) and mix, adding water, until we get a dense paste, softer than modeling paste. It is recommended to cover the clay with water and leave it for a few hours to obtain a homogeneous paste. The efficiency will increase if we also add certain plant macerates, drops of different natural tinctures or natural aromatic essences. From it we will make poultices, about 1-1.5 cm thick and with a surface that slightly exceeds that of the treated region.
The poultices (patches) will be, as the case may be, applied cold, lukewarm or warm:
cold, on inflamed regions or on the lower abdomen; in this case they are renewed as soon as they have heated up (15-30 minutes); if the feeling of cold persists, change the cold poultice to a lukewarm one;
lukewarm or warm on the liver region, kidneys, bladder, bones; the poultice will be applied directly to the skin or, if necessary, with the help of gauze;
Certain conditions – contusions, varicose veins, heart conditions – are treated, at least at first, by applying compresses and then with poultices.
The poultices and patches shall be fixed, according to the treated regions, by a bandage, a flannel belt or a T-shaped bandage (for the perineum); For a patch at the back of the neck, the immobilization tape is attached around the forehead, not the neck.
The duration of application varies from case to case, from one hour to 3 hours and sometimes all night. If unpleasant sensations appear (cold, pain) the poultice will be removed and it will not be renewed until after 12 or 24 hours. If the poultice dries too quickly, replace it with a fresh one.
After removing the patch, the remains are removed by simple washes with cold or soaked water. The pace of applications varies according to the conditions and the patient’s reactions:
- abscesses, various suppurations: the patches are renewed every half hour, then every hour and a half, day and night, if necessary; for the night, the patch can be replaced with a compress of clay water, which will be replaced once or twice;
- lumbar regions, abdomen, lower part of the chest, liver region: applications can cause more or less vivid reactions; that is why we will limit ourselves to one poultice a day, maintained for two to four hours ; Sometimes we will be able to leave the patch all night .
We will not make several applications at the same time. In cases where the patches will be indicated in several places (lower abdomen and lung, for example), the interval of two to four hours between the various applications will be observed.
Women will refrain from clay applications during menstruation.
After use it is necessary to discard the clay because it is impregnated with toxins. Wash the bandages used.
Any external clay cure must be preceded or accompanied by a detoxifying treatment
internal phyto-aromatic-therapeutic: lemon juice, mild natural laxatives, clay in general, non-toxic balanced diet (preferably with as little meat as possible).
We will always start with thin poultices (1/2 cm), slightly stretched, for one to two hours. Progressively, 1-2 cm thick patches will be used, with larger formats and longer application times. All this provided that they are well supported.
Another way of using clay is the following:
take fatty clay, from a greater depth, best of all from a sun-beaten shore. It is kept in the sun to be charged with beneficial energies. Then, after drying, either in the sun or in the oven (but, be careful, at moderate temperatures) it is finely crushed and mixed well with water or vinegar, with macerated Foal’s Tail or Scrântitoare. When it has been made like an ointment, it is spread on a cloth and put warmly on the painful side, on the chest, on the back, abdomen, knees, where it is left until dry, then changed.
In addition to patches and compresses, clay can be successfully used for powdering, like talcum powder, both in infants and in children and adults. In the wounds, Clay powder has an antiseptic and healing action. The same goes for cracks, eczema, furunculosis, abscesses, ulcers, certain cases of erythraemia. Wounds can be washed off with a liquid clay solution, to which a few drops of lemon are added. Poultices are also indicated in cases of migraines, neuralgia and dental conditions.
On the other hand, clay can also be used in vaginal washes and enemas. In doses of 3-4 tablespoons per liter of water , at body temperature (couperoses, vaginitis, colitis, rectites, intestinal parasitosis).
One way is the application of vagina or rectum clay, which is done by injecting with a 10 or 20 ml needleless syringe an appropriate amount of clay paste prepared in advance and having body temperature. In order to inject into the rectum, it is enough to insert the cone of the syringe into the anus and gently press the syringe inwards, after which we can start pressing on the plunger.
Beauty masks often contain clay
It can be done simply, economically and effectively using powdered clay from which a paste is made with half water, half cucumber, tomato or grape juice. This paste will be spread in a thin layer all over the face and kept until dry: 15 minutes to half an hour. It will be removed with lukewarm water.
This procedure, carried out once a week, has only advantages. Treat it this way acne, facial breakouts, couperose, wrinkles. Clay powder, mixed with olive oil gives a cream equally effective in all cases listed. The effects of clay and clay preparations on the skin are exceptional and this is a field of applications where the effects are obtained relatively easily, sometimes immediately and especially … can be seen!
For patients who have prescriptions of mud baths
who do not have the time or means to go to a specialized spa resort, we present the means to benefit, however, from this therapeutic method a clay paste sufficient to fill a bath will be prepared.
The bathroom can be used several times. It will be enough to add hot water every time. The duration of these baths will be 5-10 minutes at first, then 15-20 minutes. Bathrooms will be done every two days or twice a week for a month. Repeat, if necessary, after an interruption of 5-6 weeks. They are especially indicated in cases of rheumatic or bone diseases and also in anemia.
Local baths will be practiced in cases of hand or foot rheumatism.
As far as possible, sea water or sea salt is preferred.
