FAQ

Some of the most well-known questions of a beginner

“What is Abheda Yoga?”

Abheda Yoga is the Science of Consciousness — a theoretical and practical system of knowing, exploring, and transforming consciousness.

It studies the structure and dynamics of human consciousness and, in a broader sense, the nature of consciousness, and provides practical tools for inner transformation in the direction that each person wishes to follow.

“What results can this science provide?”

Through constant practice and training, Abheda Yoga can support:

  • a direct path to a deep state of inner fulfillment, less and less dependent on external circumstances;
  • the discovery and manifestation of still outdated possibilities of consciousness;
  • the development of inspiration and access to forms of intuitive and contemplative knowledge that are not reduced to discursive reason, but that can use reason as a tool for verification, understanding and expression;
  • an ever-deepening discernment and lucid and wise critical thinking, some of the best antidotes against manipulation and mental conditioning;
  • soul awakening and spiritual transformation;
  • development of cognitive and emotional intelligence;
  • the amplification of creativity and artistic capacities, for those who pursue it;
  • overcoming emotional and mental blockages and harmonizing the subconscious with conscious goals;
  • for those who have a spiritual or religious orientation, the development of devotional capacities and the power to love and receive love;
  • cultivation of human virtues and skills.

Abheda doesn’t just ask man to believe that he is evolving.

The practice must produce transformations that can be observed in one’s own being and in one’s own life.

“What human virtues or skills amplifies Abheda Yoga?”

Abheda Yoga aims to cultivate many human virtues and skills, including:

  • integrity;
  • nonviolence;
  • discernment;
  • secondment;
  • intense devotion to the Sacred;
  • the power to love and receive love;
  • courage and heroism;
  • inner discipline;
  • perseverance;
  • the ability to make an active and focused personal effort to achieve the goals we set ourselves.

“What is inner discipline?”

It is the ability to consciously orient our thoughts, emotions, decisions and actions in a coherent and focused way towards what we aim to achieve.

Inner discipline does not mean repression, but the increase of our freedom of choice.

“What place does artificial intelligence have in Abheda’s vision?”

Artificial intelligence can become a tremendous tool of humans.

Through training, Abheda Yoga aims to develop the ability to use artificial intelligence lucidly, creatively and efficiently, without delegating to it what is essential human:

discernment, creativity, responsibility, freedom of choice and inner autonomy.

AI can expand humans’ capabilities, but it should not replace their discernment.

“What is the difference from other yoga schools?”

The Abheda Yoga Academy places special emphasis on:

  • spirituality in the midst of life;
  • the non-dualistic character of the practice;
  • discovering a deep meaning of existence;
  • wise integration of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence;
  • achieving real results through practice;
  • permanent feedback on your own transformation.

In Abheda it is not enough to believe that you are evolving.

The practice must produce observable feedback:

more lucidity,
more inner freedom,
stability,
discernment,
capacity for love,
efficiency,
creativity
and autonomy.

“What does it mean that Abheda is a traditional nondualistic yoga?”

Nonduality starts from the understanding that, in depth, the individual being and the ultimate Reality are not two completely separate realities.

The practice aims at the direct recognition of the fundamental nature of consciousness.

Therefore, the emphasis is not on acquiring power from the outside, but on discovering and actualizing possibilities that exist fundamentally within one’s own being.

It’s not just about becoming something we’re not yet, it’s also about discovering more deeply what we essentially are.

“What is spirituality in the midst of life?”

In Abheda, spiritual practice is not only carried out when we meditate with our eyes closed.

The results must also appear in everyday life.

Moreover, life itself becomes a field of practice.

Relationships, profession, family, love, difficulties, responsibility, success, failure and action can become means of transformation.

In this way, the practice can be amplified precisely because we live life with meaning, intensity and wisdom.

“How can Abheda Yoga provide wisdom in the couple’s relationship?”

By deeply understanding one’s own being and of the other, and by cultivating love, discernment, complementarity, communication and inner freedom.

The couple relationship can become not only a source of joy and fulfillment, but also an extraordinary environment for self-knowledge and transformation.

“How and why should I trust this Path of transformation?”

We are not asking you to accept Abheda based on a statement or just because someone says it is an authentic path.

You can research for yourself.

The initiator and main teacher of the Abheda Yoga Academy is Leo Radutz, author of several books on yoga and tantra, a yoga practitioner for decades and a teacher who has trained several generations of yoga practitioners and teachers.

There are also international yoga training and certifications.

But a teacher’s certification, biography, or reputation cannot replace personal experience.

Finally, a path must be evaluated by:

  • coherence of teaching;
  • the traditional sources on which it is based;
  • the competence of teachers;
  • their conduct;
  • the freedom it gives students;
  • and, above all, through the verifiable results of one’s own practice.

“If I become a yogi, can I still go out with friends or not have fun?”

Of course.

Yoga does not imply isolation from life, friends or the natural joys of existence.

You can continue to go out, travel, enjoy and live intensely.

It is only possible that, gradually, you will begin to choose more consciously what really gives you joy, freedom and meaning.

“I’m a Christian. Will yoga affect this?”

Abheda Yoga does not ask anyone to give up their religious faith.

There are practitioners who keep their Christian faith and for whom the practice of yoga has also deepened the contemplative dimension of their lives.

For some people, this exploration may even lead to a deeper rediscovery of their own spiritual tradition.

There are also Christian theological positions that look at critical yoga.

We consider it natural for each person to investigate, to use his discernment and to decide according to his own conscience.

“What guarantee do I have that Abheda Yoga is authentic?”

An absolute guarantee cannot be offered through an advertisement, a diploma or a statement.

We do not ask you to accept the authenticity of Abheda based on a statement.

You can evaluate it by:

  • coherence of teaching;
  • its relation to traditional sources;
  • the depth and efficiency of the methods;
  • the competence and conduct of teachers;
  • the testimonies of those who have practiced;
  • and, first of all, by what you observe yourself when you practice.

In yoga, lucid personal experience is essential.

“Will I have to give up my current lifestyle?”

Not.

No one is asking you to change your lifestyle to get started.

However, it is possible that, as you practice and become more aware of the effects of your own choices, you may want to modify certain things yourself to achieve the results you are aiming for.

Authentic transformation is much more stable when it comes from personal understanding and choice, not from compulsion.

“Do I have to give up meat, smoking, or alcohol?”

Not to start the course.

This is not the entry condition.

However, it is possible that, by practicing, you will notice the effects of certain habits more clearly and want to give them up on your own.

For many people, developing inner discipline makes such changes easier to achieve.

“I would like to participate, but I’m too busy. I don’t have time…”

Paradoxically, practice can help to make better use of time.

More clarity, energy, discipline, and the ability to prioritize can reduce wasted time and create more space for what’s really important to you.

You don’t need to start by practicing for hours.

More important than quantity is regularity.

“Is Abheda Yoga a sect or a religion?”

Not.

The Abheda Yoga Academy is a traditional and non-dualistic yoga school, whose spiritual sources include especially Vedānta, Kashmiri Śivaism, and Vajrayāna Buddhism, along with other authentic traditions of spiritual transformation.

Participation is voluntary.

Learners can pause at any time.

They are not required:

  • Break off relationships with family or friends.
  • abandon their profession;
  • abandon their religious belief;
  • transfer assets to the organization;
  • to give up their own judgment.

On the contrary, the following are cultivated:

discernment,
critical thinking,
integrity,
justice,
inner
strength and freedom of choice.

A teacher can be deeply respected without being considered infallible.

Respect for a teacher does not imply giving up one’s own judgment.

Neither the teacher nor the organization should be placed above personal discernment, ethical principles, or the law.

“I’ve heard that the Abheda Yoga teacher manipulates students for various advantages. Is that true?”

Not.

Moreover, principles are deliberately cultivated within Abheda that reduce the possibility of manipulation:

  • the freedom to ask any question;
  • the right to disagree;
  • the freedom to interrupt participation;
  • respect for privacy;
  • delimitation of teachers’ authority;
  • financial transparency;
  • cultivating discernment and critical thinking.

One of the objectives of the practice is precisely the development of viveka — discernment — and inner discipline.

Inner discipline means the power to orient our own being towards what we ourselves lucidly consider valuable.

These directions are, by their nature, opposed to manipulation.

“Are these courses done for money?”

Abheda Yoga Academy is an NGO.

Its activity is supported by donations and an important contribution of volunteer work.

Donations are used for carrying out activities, spaces, materials, organizing courses and other expenses necessary for the functioning of the organization.

The organization’s activity is not aimed at distributing profit to members.

Its purpose is to support education, practice, and spiritual transformation.

In essence

Abheda Yoga doesn’t ask you to believe.

It proposes you to study, practice, observe and verify.

The value of a spiritual path is not measured only by the beauty of its ideas, but by the real transformation it can produce in man:

more conscience,
more freedom,
more discernment,
more love
and a life lived with meaning.
