Meditation can produce changes at the molecular level in the human body, activating our DNA!

<>Lately, there has been a lot of talk about the idea of “activating DNA”, without being supported by a scientific basis, but recently new research studies conducted at the University of Wisconsin, the United States, in Spain and in France, have highlighted the fact that after a certain time of meditation practice, molecular changes occur in the body, which shows that, in fact, certain genes change while we meditate!

The study investigated the effects of an intensive day of meditation, practiced in a group of experienced meditators, having as a control group a group of subjects not trained in meditation who only stayed in silence without a meditative practice.

After eight hours of meditation practice, the meditators exhibited a certain degree of genetic and molecular changes, including altered levels of the gene regulation system, by reducing their pro- inflammatory level, which has been correlated with a much faster recovery of the body from stressful situations.

“For the first time, we have evidence that attests to rapid changes in the expression of the genes of subjects who practiced meditation,”
says study author Richard J. Davidson, founder of the Center for the Investigation of the Healthy Mind, and William James, both professors of psychology and psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, United States.

“What is more interesting is that the changes observed in the genes that are the current targets of anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs,” says Perla Kaliman, a researcher at the Biomedical Research Institute in Barcelona, Spana, where the results of molecular analysis were centralized.

The results of the study were published in the American Journal of Psychoneurology and Endocrinology, showing the beneficial effects on inflammatory processes, confirming the clinical studies previously conducted and approved by the AHA (American Heart Association) as a preventive intervention.

The new results provide a possible biological mechanism with immediate therapeutic effects. So we not only imagine that we change our genetic material while meditating, but this change actually takes place in our body, through genes.

In the video below, we invite you to watch an interesting material that talks about activating the DNA, enjoyable viewing!
