To feel the presence of God… even with your eyes open…
When it’s hard for us, we can remember that especially then we are especially god’s attention.
Universal Order or Default Order is complex, and it’s easy to understand it — and sometimes it’s even impossible.
But it’s good to know that it’s the “road” that matters, it transforms us, not the temporary targets of becoming.
“A man was troubled because it seemed to him that he had no quality and that he would not be a being that God would love because of this.
He wanted to do something, a good deed by which God would see him better.
While he was sleeping in his hut, when suddenly, one night, the room was filled with light and God appeared to him.
God told him that he loved him and that he trusted him and that he could help him and in this way he would become better.
He asked him to do some work for him and showed him a large rock in front of the hut.
He explained that if he wanted to help Him, God,
will have to urgently push the stone daily to a certain place,
with all his powers, that which man has also done.
For many years he worked hard, from sunrise to sunset; he was pushing with all his might, with his shoulders propped up on the massive and cold surface of the unshakable rock.
Every night, however, the man would return sadly and exhausted to his hut, feeling that the whole day had been wasted.
Just when the man was more discouraged, the Adversary decided to make his appearance in his bored thoughts:
“For so long you have been pushing the stone, and it has not even budged.”
Thus, the man was left with the impression that his task is impossible to accomplish and that all his work will be a failure.
These ideas depressed and discouraged the man.
The opponent also said to him: “Why are you destroying yourself for this? Spend your time doing only minimal effort, and you’ll feel better“.
The man, weary of so many days of strain, had just proposed to follow this counsel, but before he followed it, he nevertheless decided to pray and say his care to the Lord.
“Lord, he said, I have worked hard and hard for You, gathering all my strength to do what You asked me to do.
Now, after so long, I have not been able to move the stone even by half a millimeter. What have I done wrong? Why did we fail?”
God answered him, understandingly:
“My friend, when I asked you to serve me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push with all your might into the rock, which you did. I never said I was waiting for you to move it.
Your task was just to push the stone. And now you come to me weary, saying that you have failed. But let’s see, is that really the reality?
Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscular, your back is bruised and tanned, your hands are beaten by so much pressure, your legs have become solid and strong.
You have developed a lot, and your capabilities are beyond the measure of what you might have expected to become.
True, you have not moved the rock. But your vocation was to listen to me and to push, that you might test your faith and trust in my wisdom. Which you did. Now I, my friend, will move that rock.”
Sometimes, when we hear the word of the Lord, we tend to use our thinking to decipher what He wants, when the Lord usually asks us only for our simple obedience and trust in Him.
Although we affirm that by faith we move mountains, in fact it is God or the Infinite within us or accessible within us who moves them out of place.”
